Whether or not we like it or care to acknowledge it, the weather is starting to intrude severely into our everyday lives. Down under, we have a flower that we call the wattle, a member of the Acacia family. This beautiful plant "officially" flowers in very early Spring, around the beginning of September, and provides a magnificent display of golden yellow every where you look (making it very easy to see and therefore you notice it).
Now over the last ten years or so, it has been getting earlier when it flowers, even as early as July. However, this year, we are seeing wattle flowers now - the end of May, not even seriously into Winter. If the plants are reacting to changes in the weather patterns, then I take this as a pretty serious wake up call that something has changed out there.
