I don't know much about Z Scale, except that it was started by Marklin, Oregon-based Micro Trains is a big player in the field, and this was a steal at $45.00. All paper work is present. I would guess this is your basic entry-level set, what with just (2) cars and the 0-6-0 loc. The (2) passenger cars were an extra bonus, thrown in on the deal. There was no walnut in the box, however... :)
I took the loco apart (kinda); give it a good cleaning with contact cleaner spray, very lightly oiled it, and it runs surprisingly well, given the tiny electrical footprint and light weight. I've had similar N scale locos that didn't run this well. I guess it's a good thing I bought an Optivisor a while back...
I'm thinking with this might be a cool coffee table conversation piece. Does anyone here have any experience with this scale?
