I here you. Sounds like the union may have a hand in this. During the Quebec ice storm in '97 the union Hydro lineman were raking in double and triple time repairing power lines while the Canadian Forces soldiers, some of them linemen, weres doing all the "bull" work for them. Guess who got more work done ?

To be fair though, Ontario and Quebec have always had teams ready to assist in the US and these guys do a great job when it comes down to it.

On a different note: A CBC Radio Canada crew, who had a large SUV, assisted the US Coast Guard in rescuing a bunch of invalid people from a house during the storm.
