As you can see, mine shows clips on the side that must be spread apart, in classic Roco style.  However, as I wrote above, this does not work on my model.  This makes me wonder if my manual is incorrect, and you and your manual are correct.  And yet the cover of my manual says it is for articles 62840, 62841, 68840 and 68841.  What do you think, should I take a chance and undo the four screws on the underbody and see if the body lifts off?
Tom,

The screws is for the short coupling mechanism, don't remove them.

Take a look at the parts list, item 15 is some small "thingies" that is used to spread the housing. In order to use them you need a small flathead screwdriver.
Its a bit difficult to explain how they work, it took me some time to figure it out.

Closer to the center of the locos, than the screws, there is a hole in each side. If you look into the hole, you can find a small slot where the screwdriver fits into. The "thingie" is hinged in one end, the end pointing away from the middle of the loco. So the other end can be turned outwards and then it will spread the housing a bit, so you can get it off.

Here's a closeup, where I have turned the "thingie" halfways out.
