How interesting that Klaus reviewed the Ost-V100.
I was in my local model shop on Tuesday, I can never afford to buy locos there as they are between 2&3 times the price in Germany, even on sale they are ludicrous.
However to my great surprise they had one item of interest to me to which they applied a 30% discount, bringing it down to AUD 175. So figuring I couldn't get it from Europe cheaper than this I made the impulse buy and here it is..

This is Roco item 62751, with the running number V100 2027.
It's a little beauty, captures the very essence of the  V100 class. It's a chunky little beast weighing in at just over 300g.
Again a centrally mounted motor with flywheel either end, and all axles driven and as Klaus, one set of traction tyres.
I did what I normally do when I get anything new, ran it on the test track for about 30 mins in both directions. Ran faultlessly, smooth, quiet, lights all ok. It actually has some kind of decoder built in, but running analog DC, this doesn't affect me. The writing is clear and very fine.
Unlike Klaus, I get a driver mounted in the cab!!

In real life, this loco was really a maid of all work - on secondary lines through Baden-Wurttemberg and Bavaria it could be seen in the complete variety of duties. I have very fond memories travelling behind these locos on the Murgtalbahn, the Nagoldtalbahn and others. They ran fast on the mainline between Rastatt and Karlsruhe easily reaching over 100kmh on the short stretch from Forcheim to Karlsruhe. Very powerful unit for a three coach train !

Very good loco, no complaints.
