My wife planted a few of these Heuchera plants in our front yard. Not only do they look nice but as I discovered they make an excellent source for scale model trees.
One healthy plant should yield about 15+ useable blooms for tree material.
These blooms are at the end of the season and almost dried. Remove the little bulb ends because they will fall off anyway. The "branches" are delicate but useable with a bit of care.
The main stem is hollow and needs additional support. I stuck a telephone wire up the stem as far as I could get it to give the "tree trunk" stability. I prepared some WOODLAND
scenic mesh greenery by ripped off some very small pieces, added white glue to each of the "branches", and then positioned the greenery.
