The Royal Bavarian State Railways (K. Bay. Sts. B.) developed purpose-built coaches for their branch lines. Initially these were longer coaches with 12 small windows a side and 6m wheelbase. Around 1906 they produced batches of shorter coaches with 4 large windows and a 5m wheelbase - the so-called 'Kurze'. After about 1911 the longer coaches were built with 6 large windows per side.
My understanding is that the Kurze were produced for specific branch lines, mainly to operate with the glass boxes (Glaskasten).
Question: were mixed rakes of long and short passenger coaches seen on branch lines in Epochs I and II and were these common?
I accept that the mail vans and GwL on all lines were 4-5m wheelbase; I'm purely thinking of passenger coaches.
